Yearlong grading
Some courses have grade mode 1 spring grade equals fall grade
Some courses should get a P in the spring and IP in fall
Takes a long time to update grades. Spring 2024 required over 200 changes.
Maybe we need a separate job for Law YL grading. Denise will look into if there’s a Banner-delivered job.
Pass D Fail option
Change letter grade, 2Ls/3Ls
student selects target grade. If they make the grade they get it
If they don’t get the target grade, and they don’t get a D or F, they get a P.
Maybe have a form with election option to go into a holding queue so it can be approved/denied. Students receive confirmation of submission. Once grades come in, change grade automatically. Requires grade mode change. Prefer not to hold grades (not roll). Students can elect this up to the 10th week of the semester.
Do we have a job that can change grades?
How are grade modes affected?
Curve
For curved courses, students are graded anonymously. Blind IDs.
Exams finished - email faculty who’s not included in curve (by attribute or classification) → Del highlights blind IDs that shouldn’t be included - with the classes that are graded anonymously, can something be added to highlight students not included in the curve. Similar to “graduating” flag.
1L 2L 3L and LS are included in curve (some SLs - Del needs logic on this).
include all these classes as default
6/17 Active Sections report for 202430 shows that Law is using the following grade modes:
1 - Law YY Year Long
2 - Law LL
4 - Law PC
7 - Research Zero Credit - XX, R
D - Law PD Pass/Dfail
N - Non-graded
P - Pass/Fail
S - S/U
ID numbers should never be released via ticket, phone, or email. Students can access their ID numbers via Gibson. Students needing ID numbers for transcript orders can enter their SSN or 9 0's in the ID number field.
