2023-03-17 Stackable certs

Localized to SoPA

A stack of 3 specific certificates lead in a masters

The first certificate used as a hook to the second and then to the third resulting in the masters

For these stackable programs, if they pursue only the masters, they’re also awarded the 3 certificates.

There are currently 7 stackable certificates - sports studies, IT

CANNOT overlap courses between certificates

BMS also be looking into stackable certs as well.

Masters is on one audit, but both certs are on the same separate audit.

Could we triple point courses? Can yes, but should we?

How many people are we talking about?

Maybe use the dual degree indicator to identify these students

Maybe use a different program string - PACE1_GR, PACE2_GR, would require creating new degrees (CE1, CE2 rather than CER)

Guiding principles

Certificates are small in scope and should not share coursework. If faculty pushback, defer to Jessica. This is likely to be a very small and rarely-encountered problem.

NO SHARING BETWEEN MICROCREDENTIALS.

Any sharing between stackables can only be done when combined with a degree program.

UG certs not generally eligible for aid without rigorous review. GR certs are eligible for aid. Standalone micro-credentials are likely not eligible for financial aid.
