Mostly using what’s in SHATCMT STVEVENT. But looking to move to SOATEST.

Difference - Custom SQL for SHATCMT is different than that of SOATEST.

Want to shift to SOATEST b/c less data entry issues - less free form; easier, cleaner.

By having a test code value: 1. audit’s gonna look for it to waive req 2. prevents the need for a pre-req override.

SHATCMT is used to print to the transcript.

  • Admission to candidacy

  • Dissertation defended and title

  • Prospectus

  • Comprehensive exams - probably a better fit for SOATEST

How SOATEST is currently used by schools

  • Med School - STEP exams

  • Public Health - MPH - if student completes TU BPH, SPHL 6020 is waived.

  • GRE/Admissions scores

  • Each school handles this differently internally.

 

Entering dissertations requires entering an event on the SHATCMT Academic Events tab and then entering the dissertation title in the Transcript comments by term. Would have more structure in SOATEST instead of SHATCMT Academic Events tab.

Pro bono hours in SHATCMT as well. Del enters them. Academic Events - posts to transcript. Not sure if we need entry in Academic Events for audit and SHATCMT to display on transcript.

 

Advanced standing vs SOATEST

We don’t have a bachelors of social work, we’re using AS credit for those who have one from another institution.

When we have student who completed TU undergrad and are going to a TU masters use SOATEST/pointer.

Can use grade mode change in conjunction with pointer - maybe create new grades for a level in a grade mode to prevent it from counting in the graduate program GPA.
