Entering dissertation and thesis titles (SHATCMT)
Dissertation and thesis titles are entered in SHATCMT, and they are placed at the end of the last semester of enrollment on the transcript.
General guidelines
Dissertation and thesis titles should typically be entered into Banner once the dissertation has been successfully defended and approved by the student’s committee.
After Successful Defense: Once the dissertation is defended and any required revisions are completed, the title should be entered. This ensures that the title reflects the final approved version of the dissertation.
-OR-
With Submission of Final Dissertation: The title may be entered at the same time as the student submits the final, formatted version of their dissertation to the graduate school or the library repository.
It’s important to ensure the title is entered after approval but before a student can order a transcript with their degree conferred information.
Dissertation format
The format used to enter dissertation titles is as follows:
(1) DISSERTATION: (2)“DISSERTATION TITLE.” (3)(DEPARTMENT, DISSERTATION ADVISOR) (4)DEFENSE DATE: MONTH DD, YEAR.
