Entering course overrides (SFASRPO)
Course overrides allow a student to enroll in a course for which they do not meet registration requirements.
Course overrides are maintained in SFASRPO.
Override types
Pre-requisite overrides - department, Registrar
Department overrides - department only
Capacity overrides - department only
Time conflict overrides - Registrar only
Repeat overrides - Registrar, form
All other overrides
All other overrides should only be used by the Registrar’s Office.
Entering overrides
In the SFASRPO key block, enter the student ID and Term. Go.
Enter the type of override. Clicking the lookup button on the Permit field will display all overrides options and their codes.
Academic departments should only use CAPACITY, DEPARTMENT, and PRE-REQ overrides.
Enter the CRN. If you don’t know the CRN, you can enter the subject, course, and section number, which will auto-fill the CRN. Save.

Best practices
When an instructor gives students permission to register, the instructor should contact the department scheduler or other appropriate department personnel to enter the override in Banner. The Registrar’s Office cannot enter an override without written approval from the instructor.
Those entering overrides should retain documentation of override requests for auditing purposes.
Those who enter overrides should only enter overrides for courses within their scope. For example, a department scheduler in Anthropology should not enter a registration override for a Physics course.
