Responding to advisors' registration questions

A student has authorization from a professor/department to take a class without meeting the current course requirements (pre/co-requisite, student level, school/program restrictions, etc.). Can the Registrar’s Office register the student?

Yes, if the Advisor has received permission, the Registrar’s Office can enter the override without additional documentation.  Please add a note within your Teams request that you have received permission for the override.

Can a student use AP/IB/Cambridge credit to meet the course requirements prior to the credit being applied to their record?

Yes, if a student has credit that has not yet been applied, the Registrar’s Office can enter an override without additional documentation.  Please add this “note” in your Teams request indicating the student has this credit.

What are the chances of enrolling in a class if waitlisted or if the class is closed?

We strive to give students an opportunity to register for a variety of courses. Unfortunately, the Registrar’s Office cannot predict if/when a course may have more seats added or if a waitlist will be expanded. Also, we cannot guarantee students will be able to enroll in specific courses. Our best advice is to continue monitoring the courses you are interested in taking and/or the waitlists.

They will need to add themselves back to the waitlist or select another course/section. Please note: waitlist notifications can be sent at any time (even overnight and/or on weekends) and that students have 48 hours to respond to the notification.

Seats held for waitlisted students will show as available during the 48 hours after waitlisted student is given to respond. If the first student on the waitlist does not respond, it is offered to the next student on the waitlist.

Currently, there is no option for remote learning in Spring 2023.

Check the original conversation thread for the status/completion of your request.  If additional assistance is still needed, please begin a new conversation thread, as the original staff member may no longer be available to assist.

No. These sections are limited in capacity and designed to equal the corresponding lecture. When selecting a lecture, be sure to select one of the matching the recitation sections.

If a section of the course was created the same day that the student registered, the course will not show up until about 8:00 a.m. the next day.
