Troubleshooting access to registration

Students may be unable to access registration for various reasons. This article describes troubleshooting tactics to diagnose why a student is unable to register and advice for how to resolve the issue or refer to another team.

Review the student’s status in the registration term (SGASTDN)

No SGASTDN record

Refer to the appropriate admitting office.

IS Inactive

Refer to advisor (UG, SoPA) or grad director (GR). Students must be active to register.

IG Inactive due to graduation

  1. Students with the IG status must be admitted to another program in order to register. Ask the student which program they’ve applied or are admitted to.

  2. Confirm the application exists (SAAADMS)

  3. Whether the application is in SAAADMS or not, refer to the admitting office.

AS Active

  1. Determine if there’s a time ticket. See also: Troubleshooting a wrong time ticket

    1. Yes: Are there holds preventing registration (SOAHOLD)?

      1. Yes: Refer to the office that stewards the hold.

    2. No: Is the Student Type S Special (SGASTDN/SFAREGS)?

      1. Yes: Special students cannot register online themselves. Refer them to the department/program.
