Creating and publishing the final exam schedule in EMS

Creating and publishing the final exam schedule in EMS

1.) Set the Final Exam schedule

NOTES:

  • Use “Import a Term” so you don’t have to manually enter every listed meeting pattern individually.

  • Export the CLSS data values for Final Exam requirements, so you can see which classes don’t need a classroom for their final.

  • Course numbers that never need a final exam room are listed below.
(Detail from EMS instructions linked above: Go to “Specify Final Exam Settings for a Specific Course” > clear the Final Exam Required option.)

    • ENGL 1010 / ENGL 1011

    • TIDE and TIDR (all course numbers)

2.) Publish the Final Exam session

NOTES:

  • Be sure to check the box labeled “ignore room capacity”, which is mentioned in step 3 of the “Publish the Final Exam Session” in the link above.

(Older notes - under construction:)

EMS > Academic Browser icon > Filter tab > Advanced button >

  • The final exam schedule for TERM1 must be “published” in EMS before TERM1’s classes go live for online registration??.

  • Always house departmental-wide exams first

  • What DOESN’T need a room for final exams:

    • Grad courses

    • Courses at satellite campuses (BX, EL, downtown)

    • Courses with no meeting pattern (ex: independent studies, honors theses, research, practicums, most internships, studios, service learning, etc.)
