Admitting a student with an existing learner record
This article provides guidance for admitting a student who has previously attended Tulane.
Admission
Students who previously attended Tulane will have an existing learner record in SGASTDN.
The SGASTDN Curriculum will have a priority of 10 or possibly 10 and 20.
Banner will not allow admission for a priority currently existing in SGASTDN.
The new application’s curriculum in SAAADMS should be updated so that the program has a priority next in sequence.
If the student’s most recent SGASTDN record has a priority 10 program, change the application curriculum to priority 20.
If the student’s most recent SGASTDN record has a priority 10 and a priority 20, change the application curriculum to priority 30.
Error messages
The following error messages in SAADCRV mean that you need to change the curriculum priority in SAAADMS before re-attempting to enter the application decision in SAADCRV.
Fixing the error
In SAAADMS click the Curricula tab. Click Update. Overwrite the 10 with 20 in the Priority field. Save.
Once the admission application has been updated, enter the admission decision in SAADCRV.
A new learner record is created in SGASTDN.
Learner record maintenance
Update the SGASTDN or SFAREGS record in the admission term to update the priority of the new program to 10.
If the student student has not been awarded the previous degree, do not update the priority - the Registrar’s Office will update after the addenda period.
Remember, if the student is registered for the admission term, you will need to make the change in SFAREGS. If not, the change can be made in SGASTDN.
If you attempt to make the change in SGASTDN and you see the following error message, you know you need to make the change in SFAREGS instead.
Identify the newly-admitted program. Click Update.
Overwrite the 20 with 10. Save.
After you’ve made your program priority 10, if there’s a lingering priority 20 program, be sure to inactivate the priority 20.
