Distribute Registrar tools access to SSE coordinators

Problem statement

Rosanna Chavez, Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Science and Engineering, is looking to distribute some responsibilities to the administrative coordinators.

When students want to add a certificate, I want to add it, so I can ensure that students have an accurate degree audit.

When students are admitted, I want to assign advisors, so I (and faculty) can access a list of my students.

When degree certification occurs, I want to streamline certification, so I can ensure that degree requirements are met and certify students in less time.

When students complete graduate milestones, I want my team to enter them, so I can focus on other priorities.

During degree certification, I want to access a list of certified students, so I know who has/hasn’t been certified to graduate.

 

Current process

Currently, Rosie is responsible for entering graduate milestones. She would also like to find a better way to handle degree certification within the school. Finally, the team would like training on student curriculum maintenance and assigning advisors. The coordinators currently handle their own independent study section creation and registration, and some submit Degree Works petitions.

 

  • Determine if distribution is appropriate and if so, facilitate access to needed tools and host training.

  • Identify a process internal to SSE to ensure degree requirements are met in less time.
