Entering dismissal for School of Medicine students
SOM dismisses students from the MD program after a period of leave. Students may also choose to withdraw from the program voluntarily.
Therefore, the SFAWDRL record should be entered for the last term of attendance, and the SHAINST record should be entered for the term the program withdrawal/dismissal became effective.
For example, if a student’s last term of attendance was 201910 and their withdrawal/dismissal becomes effective 202310, create a SFAWDRL record for 201910 (if not already done) and a SHAINST record for 202310 (End of Term Academic Standing code is MD).
For dismissed students, control in which term DISMISSED appears by updating the student’s class attribute in SGASADD.
ID numbers should never be released via ticket, phone, or email. Students can access their ID numbers via Gibson. Students needing ID numbers for transcript orders can enter their SSN or 9 0's in the ID number field.
