PATH

  • June 2022 implemented - included 10 years of records

  • Summer and Fall 2022 first semesters of registration in Banner and PATH

Advanced reg model

  • No appointment times for registration (time tickets)

  • System open to build carts for 2 weeks prior to opening registration.

  • Shopping period ends.

  • Students put priority when shopping on each course.

  • Optimization process runs to create draft course assignments for everyone who did carts.

    • Send to departments 3 iterations of drafts; tight turnaround.

  • Schedules are optimized and registered and then students can change.

CE: Is there pushback from departments? Are more sections added by departments?

Meghan: Not many sections added (can cause housing issues)

SD: Have you done any analysis on whether students are generally happy with results or are they making lots of changes?

MK: Both - they’re not mutually exclusive. The campus community is generally happy. This model existed for years prior to CL, but all features were brought forward from the mainframe into CL.

Kiley: we understand how the optimization works. If there’s a tie between students, don’t understand how the algorithm does the tie-breaker.
