Copying an event in Localist
While it’s possible to create a new event from scratch in Localist, it’s easier to copy an existing event and modify the copy.
Depending on the event you’re creating, you may choose to copy a like event in another part of term or you might choose to copy a different event from the same part of term.
Select the event you want to copy
If you want to copy an event from another part of term, refine the list of Live events to display the part of term that has the event you want to copy.
Use the Tags field to search for the list of dates in a specific part of term.
Enter the tag and click the Refine button.
If you know the title of the event, you can use the top field, Search Events, to find the event. Tip: You can find the event title from the academic calendar on our website.
Copy the event
Click on the event you’d like to copy. When the event opens, click COPY EVENT.
You’ll see a blue banner at the top of the screen to indicate that the event has been copied. You’re now working on the copy.
Edit the copied event
When copying a like event from another part of term, be sure to update the PoT code in the Event Name and the tags so that they represent the part of term you’re publishing this event to. Save.
When copying a different event from the same part of term, be sure to update the Event Name, Start Date, and Details > Description as appropriate.
To change the Start Date, which represents the event date, under Confirmed Dates, click the trash can icon. (The edit icon only allows you to change/add start and end times.)
Enter the event in the Start Date field. Click Save.
Publishing your event
A copied event is considered a new event that requires approval before publishing. From the left navigation, under Events, select Pending.
If you’ve created several events, you can approve them all at once. Click the checkbox at the top of the list to select all items.
Click Batch Actions and select Approve Selected Events
You can also approve one-by-one by selecting Approve for a respective event.
If you’d like to review/edit an event before approval, click Review and then Edit. Note that the Review view displays the calendar view, which we do not use. After editing, be sure to approve to publish.
Allow up to 15 minutes for the academic calendar widget on our website to refresh.
