Text to appear on the transcript is entered in SHATCMT.

Originator codes

Originator codes identify the location of the text on the transcript.

  • LGY1: Text Beginning of Transcript

  • LGY2: Text after Degrees Awarded

  • LGY3: Text after Transfer Credits

  • LGY 4: Text after Course within Term

    • Examples

      • Used to identify non-TU courses taken at Shanghai University 202030-202130

  • LGY5: Text After Designated Term

    • Used when entering dissertation titles

    • Other examples

      • Used to identify course excluded from the GPA for some students matriculating remotely from China 202030-202130

      • Used to identify coursework taken at UCASS (University of China Academy of Social Sciences) for some Goldring Institute students

      • Academic dismissal

  • LGY6: Text at end of Transcript - only used with the Transcript Comments by Level tab

LGY5: Entering dissertation titles

LGY5 is used for entering dissertation titles

Dissertation titles are entered in SHATCMT by the Dean’s Office representative.

SHATCMT key block

  • Enter the Student ID and Level. Enter the Originator code as LGY5 (Text After Designated Term).

    • This code identifies the location where the text appears in the transcript.

  • Enter the student’s last term of enrollment. The text, the dissertation title, will display on the transcript after the designated term. The designated term should be the student's last term, the term in which the student completed the degree. It should always be the student’s last enrollment term. Click on Go.

Transcript Comments By Term tab

  • Enter the title of the dissertation in the Comments field. Each line has approximately 48 characters. For entries longer than 48 characters, use additional lines by using Insert. Use as many lines as needed.

  • As you need a new line, press the down arrow key or click Insert.

  • For each line, enter the Term and Effective Date. The Term is the student’s final term of enrollment and the Effective Date is the date entered.

  • Save. Level and Originator Code auto-fill.

This notation is needed for each semester identified per information provided by TU Global.

GBMS, GRLA, GRSE, and GRSW: Recording qualifying exams

SHATCMT key block

  • Enter the Student ID and Level.

  • Enter the Originator code as follows:

    • GBMS: Graduate Biomedical Science

    • GRLA: Graduate Liberal Arts

    • GRSE: Graduate Science & Engineering

    • GRSW: Graduate Social Work

  • Enter the Effective Term. Go.

Academic Events tab

  • Enter the Event code or use the lookup/search button (with the 3 dots) to select.

    • STVEVEN is the validation table associated with this field.

  • Enter the decision (PASSED or FAILED).

  • Enter the Effective Date. Save.

Entering expulsion

After entering expulsion in SHAINST, add a transcript comment using the LGY6 originator code in the Transcript Comments by Level tab.
