Changing the grade mode in a student's registration (SFAREGS)

There are a few reasons a grade mode may change for a student after the point of registration:

  • Changing Grade Mode to Audit

  • Student Level to Course Level / Grade Mode Mismatch

  • Changing the Grade Mode to S/U

You will not be able to update the grade mode in SFAREGS if the grade mode is set as something else in SSASECT. So the first thing that must happen is that you remove the grade mode in SSASECT. IMPORTANT: at the end of this process you must go back to SSASECT and put the original grade mode back in. Be sure to make a not of the original grade mode on the section.

Check the grade mode in SSASECT

  • Enter the term and CRN. Go.

  • Identify the grade mode listed in the Grade Mode field (Course Section Information block). If a grade mode exists, delete it and Save.

Add the new grade mode in SFAREGS

  • Enter the term and student ID, and then click GO.

  • On the Registration Tab, next block down to the Course Information Section.

  • Click on the Grade Mode field and then change the the grade mode as needed.

  • Click Save.

Remember to go back to SSASECT and put the original grade mode back on the section.

_________

If for any reason you are unable to change the grade mode, it is possible the grade mode does not exist at the course level. See below on how to verify the grade mode at the section level.

Verify the grade mode you need is listed as an option for the course in SCACRSE

  • Enter the subject, course, and term. Go.

  • Next block twice to the Grading Mode block to view all available grade modes for the course.

If the grade mode you need is missing, ask Sarah, Nicole, Denise, or Michelle to update the missing grade mode in SCACRSE as this is a restricted access screen because of synchronization with CIM.
