It may sometimes be helpful for Registrar staff to be able to identify student athletes, for instance if there are questions about a students' athletic status and eligibility, their athletic time ticket, etc. Incoming student athletes will be manually coded in SGASPRT by the Athletics department. Continuing athletes will have their SGASPRT coding rolled to a future term via an Appworx process linked at the bottom of this article. Student athletes are also assigned an athletics advisor, and may be given special registration holds during priority registration periods. Below are instructions for identifying student athletes in Banner.

SGASPRT

  • In the query screen, input the student’s TUID

  • Term is not required to query SGASPRT

Compliance tab

This tab provides general athlete information, and will be the tab most used by the Registrar’s Office:

  1. The form defaults to the students' latest athletic term.

    1. You can scroll through the student’s prior athletic terms using the arrows at the bottom of the Athletic Compliance section.

  2. All student athletes are coded with “AL” no matter what sport(s) they play.

    1. This makes it easier to identify student athletes for reporting and other purposes.

  3. The student’s specific sport(s) will be listed here.

    1. As in the example above, students may participate in many different sports, or in only one.

  4. The Status field indicates whether the student is an active or inactive athlete.

    1. Student athletes will always begin as active in a term.

    2. Students may become inactive if they resign from their sport, or some other such event.

    3. If a student is no longer an athlete in a future term, they will simply not have a record for that term.

  5. Tulane uses the Eligible field only if the student was a walk on for the team.

    1. If “WO” is present in the Eligible field, the Athletic Aid field will be blank.

  6. Athletic Aid indicates that the student has been recruited and receiving financial aid for playing the sport.

    1. If “Y” is present in the Athletic Aid field, the Eligible field will be blank.

Other tabs

There may be data in the other tabs of this form, but most likely not relevant to Registrar processes.
