How to Add Multiple Meeting Patterns to a Section in CLSS.mp4

Find your class section

  • Log into CLSS (https://nextcatalog.tulane.edu/wen).

  • Select your Instance (term).

  • Select your Scheduling Unit (department).

  • From your department’s list of classes, double-click the section you wish to add a second meeting pattern to (or begin creating a new section by clicking the green plus sign to the right of the course number).

Add the first meeting pattern

  • In the section’s “Create Section” or “Edit Section” window, click the meeting pattern link under Schedule which opens the Scheduling window.

  • Click the Patterns drop down menu. Enter your first meeting pattern in the blank textbox under “User Defined,” or select one from the available list above that (if any are listed and are appropriate). Sample format: MWF 8:00am-8:50am

  • Click the Add button, and the meeting pattern will appear in a solid green block on the scheduling grid.
    (Note: (Any other already-scheduled sections of that course number will be in lighter-colored blocks for reference. Their section numbers along the top can be clicked to toggle their displays on and off.)

Enter additional meeting patterns

Click the Meetings button in the bottom-left corner.

This will open up a meeting menu from the bottom of the screen. Click the green plus sign to add a second meeting pattern.

  • From this window, you can change the Schedule Type and the Room, if they differ from the values in the Create/Edit Section window. (You can also request a General Pool Room for this meeting pattern.)

  • From this window, you should not change the Dates (they should be the same dates as the Part of Term selected in the Create/Edit Section window).

  • The Pattern will be grayed out; you will update the Meeting Pattern elsewhere, in the next step.

  • Click the Accept button. (The Meeting Details window will disappear.)

  • With the meeting menu still displaying from the bottom of the Scheduling window, click on your second meeting pattern (anywhere except for the pencil or trash buttons). The record will highlight in green, and then the meeting menu will collapse.

  • Now that you have selected that second record, you may add its meeting pattern:

    • Drop down the Patterns menu and enter your second meeting pattern

    • Click the Add button. Your second meeting pattern will appear on the grid. Repeat the previous steps for any additional meeting patterns.

  • When all meeting patterns are entered, click the Accept button. This will close the Scheduling window.

  • Your multiple meeting patterns should now display in the Create/Edit Section window. Click the Save Section button. This will close the Create/Edit Section window.

Changing meeting patterns

If you need to change any of the meeting patterns later, double-click the class section, and repeat the follow steps.

In the Create/Edit Section window:

  • Click the Schedule link.

  • Click the Meetings button.

  • Click the record that needs to be changed. It will highlight and then collapse.

  • Click the Patterns drop-down menu, and enter the updated meeting pattern.

  • Click Add, then Accept, then Save Section.
