Adding a concentration to a student's curriculum record

Adding a concentration to a student's curriculum record

Declared concentrations are managed in SFAREGS. This article describes how to add and remove a concentration to a student’s curricula record in SFAREGS. At this time, concentrations codes are only added to a minor number of graduate programs.

As of July 2025, only a small number of programs- those listed in a table at the bottom of this article- are using the Banner “Concentration” field for approved concentrations. Other graduate and all undergraduate concentrations, tracks, specializations, etc. use Major 1, Major 2 or Minor field of study codes to differentiate these curricula. Several pre-existing academic programs, primarily at the undergraduate level use the convention of a / in the field of study to depict a concentration in the program.

Select the program to which the concentration is attached

  1. In the SFAREGS key block, enter the (a) effective term of the declaration and (b) the student’s ID number. Check the (c) View Current/Active Curricula checkbox. (d) Go.

    1. If you get an error message indicating that the student has a hold, (*) enter “OVR” in the Holds field. Then click Go.
