Setting new student catalog terms to 000000 - REG_FOS_CAT_TERM_INIT_C
Overview
This process sets the field of study (FOS) catalog term to 000000 for incoming students. The process was created to accommodate the Newcomb-Tulane College practice of considering a student’s admission application major as an “interest” and not an officially declared major.
When a student is admitted in Banner, the admission term auto-populates as the FOS catalog term. For example, if a student is admitted in 201930, the FOS catalog term will be automatically set to 201930. This job resets the catalog term to 000000, indicating that the student has not yet officially declared the major.
When a student officially declares a major, their academic advisor is responsible for entering the major in Banner, and setting the major catalog term (changing it from 000000 to the declared term). NTC students have until the end of their third semester at Tulane to declare a major.
For students admitted in fall terms - run this process on/before June 1 (before CAST events begin)
