Updating a fall admit's record to allow summer registration

Incoming fall students sometimes choose to take summer courses. To be coded correctly, we will create a new record for summer only to open their summer registration.

This procedure is done in SGASTDN and includes creating a new summer term for the student and entering the details of the admission semester to the new summer term.

In SGASTDN, enter the student’s ID number. Leave the Term field blank. Go.

Make note of the following fields in the Curricula tab for the fall semester for only Current and Active curricula:

Seriously, write it down.

  • Program

  • Field of Study: all majors/minors, priority numbers, fields of study, and departments

The first major
(above; Type 10: Field of Study = ARCH)
This student has a second major
(above; Type 20: Field of Study = LING)
And there’s a minor, too!

Update the Learner tab to create the summer term

To create a new effective summer term, click the button with the three dots next to the New Term line, which brings up a list of options.

Select “Create New Effective Term”.

Enter the summer term code. Tab BUT DON’T SAVE YET.

Update the Curricula tab for Catalog Term and add curricula

Change the term to the fall term by clicking into Catalog Term and enter the fall term code.

Tab. Under Curriculum, place the cursor into the Program field and enter the Program noted previously. Tab.

Next block. Enter the field of study. Tab.

For additional majors/minors, insert additional lines under the first major.

Fill in based on previously noted fields.

Review your work. Save. (Click OK for any Curriculum Error messages.)
