Selecting a course number for a new course in CIM Course Inventory Management

Selecting a course number for a new course in CIM Course Inventory Management

  1. Navigate to http://nextcatalog.tulane.edu/courseadmin and enter your subject area in the search.

  2. You will retrieve a full list of all course numbers that are in use (both active and inactive courses).

  3. From that list you can easily determine whether or not a desired course number is available.

  4. Alternatively, when you propose a new course in CIM's system,  you can click on the "Course Numbers in Use" button to see the same list referenced above.

Note: If you propose a course number that is already in use in the inventory, the system will give you an error message that explains that the course number is not available.

Important: Course numbers cannot be re-used. Reusing course numbers causes problems with course repeatability, student records, course listings, and transcripts.
