Enabling the Billing tab in Gibson for affiliate housing residents

Affiliate Deming residents are entitled to view some services in Gibson Online, the most important of which is access to their billing tab and account.  Deming is a Tulane-owned and managed residential facility on the downtown campus, with rent billing through my office. Tulane does accept residential contracts from affiliates – who are most often associated with Tulane Hospital academic programs, including visiting medical instructors, fellows, researchers, and others.  As a result of their affiliate status, and rarity of an affiliate residing in Deming, IT does not provision Gibson Online access through automation.

These requests should be forwarded to Mike Pilman in Accounts Receivable.

IT provides this method to manually activate billing tab access for a Deming affiliate:

1. Identify their Tulane e-mail address and record it on Banner form SPAIDEN as a Type 10 address (if not already there).

2. Make sure the Type-10 e-mail address is set to INACTIVE – whether you added it or otherwise.

3. Make them Work Active (WA) in SPAIDEN > Biographical tab > More Information > Job Status field

This creates an error condition in automation that runs every 15 minutes in the job server, which updates a variety of Person information. 

• The automation is configured to handle this error condition by adding all required links between the Banner type 10 address and peripheral systems. 

• A positive result will grant the affiliate access to Gibson Online services, and activate the Type 10 address in Banner.
