Viewing and maintaining a student's pre-Banner summary hours and GPA (SHAPCMP)

Background

Also known as “initial statistics”.

A student who matriculated prior to the Banner implementation and returns to TU to continue studying should have their pre-Banner credits entered in SHAPCMP. However, pre-Banner courses are not entered in Banner.

About the credits

The credits are included in the cumulative credits and GPA on the transcript. Pre-Banner credits are not viewable on any academic history pages likes SHATCKN or SHACRSE, but will appear as follows in SHATERM.

SHATERM > Current Standing block

  • included in all Institutions hours and GPA as well as the Overall hours and GPA

  • First Term Attended will have a value of 000000

SHATERM > Term GPA and Course Detail Information block

  • a term of 000000 will be available and hours and GPA but no courses in the Institutional Courses block

Instructions

Viewing pre-Banner summary hours and GPA

In the key block, enter the student’s TUID number in the ID field and click Go.

View the pre-Banner level GPA summary (1) and the pre-Banner campus GPA summary (2).

Entering pre-Banner summary hours and GPA

  1. Access the student’s unofficial transcript. Note the hours values, quality points, and GPA.

  2. In the key block, enter the student’s TUID number in the ID field and click Go.

  3. In the Pre-Banner Level GPA Summary block, enter the level, which automatically populates as “I” (Initial).

  4. Enter the hours: attempted, passed, and earned.

  5. Enter GPA hours and quality points.

  6. GPA is automatically calculated. Save.

  7. Upon Save, the Pre-Banner Campus GPA Summary block will auto-fill.

  8. Refresh and review the transcript to confirm the credits and quality points are included in the counts. Depending on the how much academic history the student has, the GPA may or may not change.
