Awarding the 5-year MAR degree retroactively

In 2003 the architecture faculty voted to retroactively award a Master of Architecture to all graduates of the 5-year curriculum, the 3.5-year professional curriculum and the 4-year program offered before 1948. The master's degree awarded for these programs is considered a "first professional" degree, according to a memorandum from the School of Architecture.  (source)

  1. Ask the School of Architecture & Built Environment to confirm the student should have the master’s degree awarded.

  2. Add the award in SHADEGR. If the person is not in Banner (awarded the bachelor’s pre-1980), you won’t be able to do this step.

  3. Access transcript in Papervision.

  4. Include the following text on the transcript: MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE CONFERRED RETROACTIVELY JULY 1, 2004.

  5. Scan and replace transcript so that the annotated version is the only version of the transcript available in Papervision.

  6. Get the original from Ann Case and mark up the original in the same way.

  7. Order an original diploma (not a replacement!) and/or diploma as requested by the student. The fees charged are the normal fees for all orders.
