Enabling the Self-Service Reports tab
Visibility of the Self-Service Reports (SSR) tab in Gibson is managed by Banner class. (BAN_TUL_RG_ACAD_10). All new SSR users must complete FERPA training prior to access. See also: Checking completion of FERPA training in Bridge
Do they already have a Banner account?
Yes - add the BAN_TUL_RG_ACAD_10 class to their account
No
Do they need the SSR tab only and no other Banner access?
Yes - create a new Banner account with BAN_TUL_RG_ACAD_10, TUL_BASE_VALQ, FGAC Elevate, and FGAC SSN_MASKED_USERS; indicate this user should not have BANPROXY or BANJSPROXY roles. (Why? BANPROXY/BANJSPROXY give visibility to the Banner 9 link in Gibson. They’d still be able to access Banner via banner.tulane.edu, but most individuals access Banner via the Banner 9 link. While they have a Banner account, these users don’t need to use Banner, so there’s no need to make the Banner 9 link available.)
No - create a new Banner account and set up as usual, including BAN_TUL_RG_ACAD_10.
Once Banner access has been set up, the user will need to submit a Cognos Student Access Form, which is needed to make the reports within the SSR tab available.
Users sometimes contact BIA directly, and BIA will open the Banner request. Contact the user to complete FERPA training and ensure completion prior to approving.
ID numbers should never be released via ticket, phone, or email. Students can access their ID numbers via Gibson. Students needing ID numbers for transcript orders can enter their SSN or 9 0's in the ID number field.
