  • I asked for communications that have been sent to the students, and I was told that students have been sent multiple communications that basically contain all of the information located here: https://advising.tulane.edu/advising/incoming. Additionally Heather had a parent meeting yesterday that seems to have gone very well, and in which she directed parents to this same link. So I think this is a good source of general FTF registration info.

  • Patrick Long has communicated, and will be sending another reminder today, to students asking them to make sure they can log into Tulane systems prior to their scheduled advising appointment, including Zoom, Gibson, etc. So hopefully access will not be an issue.

  • Since the pre-req override form will not go live until tonight, Heather expects that advisors will still need help with pre-req overrides at least until they get accustomed to using the form - hopefully by next week.

  • Heather also confirmed that she wants us to "hold the line" and NOT open hidden seats if asked. The new advisors should not be aware that this is even an option, and therefore should not know to ask. Veteran advisors might ask, but Heather wants to address those requests individually. Apparently they will have a daily end-of-day meeting and they will discuss these types of special cases in those meetings. If Heather or Dolo or someone like that sends you a direct teams message asking to push something through, then we should honor that. I think we need to understand that this is subject to change, but this is how Advising would like to start off at least.

  • For Raphel, Colette P's benefit, the CAST23 attribute is still being used as expected (applied to students when they complete their initial advising appointment), so we will be able to use that as a marker for opening percentage of seats. I suspect that there is a cognos report that looks for this data. If not, I will write one before I leave today and set up a daily feed.
