Advisors are maintained in SGAADVR.
In the SGAADVR key block enter the student’s ID and term in which the new advisor should be added.

If there are no other advisors assigned
Enter your ID number. Tab. Enter your advisor type.
One advisor must be indicated as primary (Primary Indicator). Save.
If there are other advisors already assigned
If the From Term is the same as the term you entered, click on the next available line. Add your ID number, choose or enter your advisor type and Save.
expandImage AddedIf the From Term is different from the term you entered, click Maintenance.
Select Copy Advisor if you do not want remove an already assigned advisor. We recommend that you use Copy Advisor.
Select End Advisor if you want to end date a prior assigned advisorpreviously-assigned advisors. We DO NOT recommend that you use End Advisor unless you know all previously-assigned advisors should be ended.
Insert to add your ID number, choose your advisor type and Save.

To remove yourself as an advisor
Find your name in the list and click to select it. Click Delete. Save.
Removing an advisor
You should only remove advisors who you know should not be assigned to the student for the effective term. When in doubt, them in.
Click on the line with the advisor who needs to be removed. Click the delete button. Repeat as needed. Save.
